Eric P. van der Veer obtained his Chemistry degree at the University of Amsterdam, where he specialized in bio-inorganic chemistry (M.Sc., 2000). In 2008 he obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Western University (London, Ontario, Canada), where his studies led to several licensed patents dealing with cellular lifespan extension. He joined the LUMC in 2008, where he led a research group focusing on RNA biology (in close collaboration with Prof. Anton Jan van Zonneveld). For the past two years he has served as a business developer for the Leiden Regenerative Medicine Platform to gain expertise for the commercialization of innovative technologies. In September of 2019 he left the LUMC and officially founded Hybridize Therapeutics.
